Greenland

Greenland is the world’s largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans. It is a territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. The majority of its landmass is covered by an ice sheet, with only a small percentage of the population living along the ice-free coastal regions. The capital and largest city is Nuuk.

The island is also home to the military's northernmost installation. Pituffik Space Base is under the command of the U.S. Space Force.

Greenland has a small but primarily Indigenous population, with the Inuit people making up the majority. The official language is Greenlandic, though Danish and English are also widely spoken. The economy relies on fishing, tourism and some natural resource extraction, including rare minerals.

The island experiences an Arctic climate, with long, harsh winters and short, cool summers. Wildlife includes polar bears, seals, whales and a variety of seabirds. Due to its remote location and challenging environment, transportation is primarily by air and sea, with no roads connecting settlements.
